Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a uninhabited area of Montreal Island known as West Island. It is a part of the island that has been called "the West Island." West Island has a lot of communities. For those who haven't been aware of it frequently think it is a separate island facing west. The West Island is frequently referred to as the location of birth of Amanda Brugel but while that is true, her stay there was not long. Brugel grew-up in Courtice close to Oshawa, Ontario. The first goal she had was to pursue a career as an actress but after a sudden growth spurt her partners were no longer able to dance along with her. She admitted in an article published by the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. The moment I outgrew any male partner then I slowed down. A lot of former dancers go on to act. In the case of Brugel it was because of the advice of her drama teacher at her high school which pushed her in the direction she wanted. Her teacher suggested she audition as Anne in their annual school production. It was her choice to take on the principal character in Anne of Green Gables after she auditioned for. After receiving the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. Since then, Brugel has been in over 60 productions both large and small. Most notable was when she landed Rita's role in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the character Rita in the Handmaid's Tale which was produced over the course of ten years.
